Description: The College of Health Sciences seeks applications for the position of Academic Director, Physician Assistant Program. Bethel’s PA Program provides master's level education for physician assistant students. Founded in 1842, the university is located in rural northwest Tennessee, where the cost of living is low and recreational activities are abundant.


The College of Health Sciences offers programs that lead to degrees in Physician Assistant Studies, Nursing and Athletic Training.

Responsibilities: Serve as director of the didactic phase of PA Program.  Coordinate, teach, and/or evaluate instruction in core/professional courses.  Participate in the development, implementation, ongoing revision of didactic learning objectives, and evaluation of the curriculum for PA education.  Develop and revise Student Handbooks and provide advising and academic counseling of students.  Supervise didactic faculty.   Chair the Academic Curriculum Committee, and serve on the Promotions, Retention and Disciplinary Committee. Engage in scholarly and community service activity.  Participate in program recruitment and admission process.  Participate in national, state, and/or leadership activities relevant to physician assistant education and practice.  Participate in maintenance of ARC-PA continued accreditation, program evaluation and self-study activities.

Qualifications: Experience educating PA students either as a clinical preceptor or as a faculty member is preferred. The ability to work collaboratively is essential. The ideal candidate must be a graduate of an accredited PA Program, possess a graduate degree, (master's or doctorate), be NCCPA certified with appropriate clinical practice experience, and hold a current PA license in Tennessee or be eligible for licensure. Applicants must demonstrate strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills. Candidates must also: exhibit abilities in planning and organization; possess a solid work ethic, a positive attitude, a sense of humor; be resourceful and computer literate. Some travel is required.


Salary: Competitive, commensurate with experience. This position is full-time with one clinical release day.
