CAMS-Banner Database Administrator
Under the direction of the Director for Information Technology, the CAMS/Banner Database Administrator is responsible for support of data integrity and reliability issues within the administrative system databases including the CAMS/Banner and Microsoft SQL/Oracle Enterprise databases. This position performs database performance analysis, helps to build interfaces between production databases and warehouse databases, and between database warehouses and the end user query tools. This person will work with the IT team to ensure that proper security and networking requirements are met to support administrative systems. This position will also be responsible for the providing data access permissions and for reviewing those permissions on a regular basis to insure security of the university’s data.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Designs logical and physical databases or reviews description of changes to database design to understand how changes to be made affect physical database (how data is stored in terms of physical characteristics such as location, amount of space, and access method).
- Establishes physical database parameters and codes database descriptions and specifies identifiers of database to database management system or directs others in coding database descriptions.
- Calculates optimum values for database parameters such as amount of computer memory to be used by database.
- Specifies user access level for each segment of one or more data items such as insert, replace, retrieve, or delete data.

Specifies which users can access databases and what data can be accessed by user.
Tests and corrects errors, and refines changes to database. - Creates production, test, and development database environments as needed.
- Assist the colleges and departments with building reports that will be sent to the Department of Education.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university; or five to seven years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Knowledge of database connectivity backends such as ODBC.
- Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and to provide input in a team environment.
- Minimum of five years of experience with Windows, UNIX and LINUX.
- Experience as a Three Rivers CAMS Microsoft SQL DBA, or a Sungard-SCT Banner/Oracle DBA.
- Experience with CAMS/Banner Web products and Banner Web-native.
- Desirable to be Microsoft SQL, or Oracle 9i (or higher) certified.
- Heartland Systems experience a plus.
