General Education



Bethel University is in the process of reviewing the general education (Common Core) program in the traditional, undergraduate program.  Information about this review process has been distributed to faculty, who will be kept informed of the process as it continues.  Select documents will be posted or linked here as appropriate.

TN MATRIX.  Bethel's standard syllabus refers to TN Matrix goals; these are standardized learning goals that education students must meet over the course of their education.  A listing of these goals may be found in the following document: Faculty should review the relevant sections of the document and state in their syllabi (under Section V) all the TN Matrix goals that are goals of each course.  Relevant sections are as follows:

General Education     pp. 13-15         (2-1 to 2-3)
Social Studies             pp. 111-115    (13-1 to 13-5)
Mathematics                pp. 99-102       (11-1 to 11-4)
Science                          pp. 104-109  (12-1 to 12-6)
Social Studies includes the following fields:  History, Government, Geography, Economics, Psychology, and Sociology.
Science includes the following fields:  Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Earth Sciences.
