The purpose of the Director of Web and Social Media position is to be the web and social media component of the Office of University Relations as it tells Bethel University’s story and provides valuable, consistent and up to date information to the school’s various stakeholders.
The scope of responsibility for the Director of Web and Social Media includes: Maintaining and keeping web content and links viable at all times; maintaining a constant, consistent and deliberate social media presence on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat and other social media platforms; monitoring social media platforms related to Bethel University to ensure positive and appropriate messages are conveyed to Bethel University’s stakeholders; serving as point of contact between Bethel’s colleges and other entities and Bethel’s web host to answer questions and issues related to website and to make changes as needed by these colleges and entities; serving as the voice that answers questions or concerns posted via Bethel social media platforms and keeping Director of University Relations and others when necessary abreast of such concerns and situations; serving as photographer covering events that will need to be promoted via social media platforms; serving as videographer covering events that will need to be promoted via social media platforms and making videos for specific entities within the university that want to promote a program or specific event.
Minimum Qualifications: At least a Bachelor’s degree in business, public relation/communications or in computer information systems with proven experience in web maintenance, social media promotion, related graphic and web creation software, photography and video production,
Or at least seven to 10 years of proven experience working with graphic design software and proven experience in web maintenance, social media promotion, related graphic web creation software, photography, and video production.
Desired Qualifications: Extensive knowledge of public relations practices and proven experience in handling public relations functions; strong writing skills.
