"Modern libraries are increasingly being redefined as places to get unrestricted access to information in many formats and from many sources. In addition to providing materials, they also provide the services of specialists, librarians, who are experts at finding and organizing information and at interpreting information needs." (Wikipedia, 2009)

But a library is more than the sum of its parts, and the Library @ Burroughs Learning Center is no exception. The Library is the focal point where students, faculty and staff come to find resources and seek assistance for their academic, personal and career information needs. It is a place for individual or group study, for social interaction, for quiet reflection, and is often a retreat from the bustle of the dorms or the busy office.

Our Mission

In close partnership with the college's instructors, the core mission of the Library @ Burroughs Learning Center is to teach the college's students how to find and understand information and incorporate it successfully into their learning within the context of their course-related and other learning objectives, and to do so in ways which nourish and sustain a Christian understanding of learning, as interpreted in the college's mission statement.

The library accomplishes its mission by employing suitably trained faculty to teach students to expand and improve their learning by connecting information-bearing media with their learning objectives; by teaching students the skills required to acquire and manage the content and format of formal and informally organized information; and by acquiring, organizing, maintaining, and providing access to information bearing resources.
