In order to meet the growing needs of the university, we now have a ministry team of four who strive to serve the Lord and the university.
Rev. Dr. Anne B. Hames

Senior Chaplain of Bethel University

Dr. Anne Hames is the senior chaplain of the University. Dr. Hames graduated from Bethel in 1982 with a bachelor of arts degree in Religion. She earned a master of divinity degree and a Doctorate of Ministry degree from the Memphis Theological Seminary. Dr. Anne Hames also teaches religion classes on campus.
Coach Cliff Barna

Chaplain of Athletics

Coach Cliff Barna is the Chaplain of Athletics. Coach Barna graduated from Bethel in 2008 with a Bachelors degree in Computer Information Systems and in 2010 with a Masters in Education degree. He also graduated from Memphis Theological Seminary with a Masters in Divinity degree in 2014.  He is the sponsor of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes on campus.

Rev. Dr. J. Pratt Hubbard

Dr. Pratt Hubbard is the Chaplain of the College of Professional Studies. Dr. Hubbard serves on the Bethel faculty as Assistant Professor of Speech. He earned a bachelor of arts from LaGrange College; B.T.A. from Pasadena Playhouse; and M.F.A. Ed.D., from the University of Georgia.

Candace Sumner, M.A.Ed.

Mission and Outreach Coordinator 731-352-6380             

Candace Sumner is the Mission and Outreach Coordinator for the university. She graduated from Bethel in 2010 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Exceptional Learning and in 2013 with a Master of Arts degree in Education. She organizes annual mission trips and local outreaches for Bethel students, faculty, staff, and alumni.
