Mallard Named Interim Academic Dean
Cindy Mallard of Milan has been appointed Interim Academic Dean of the College of Liberal Arts at Bethel University according to Walter Butler, Executive Vice-President of the College of Liberal Arts.
“I am very pleased that Cindy will assume this role,” said Butler. “She has involved herself in many aspects of Bethel’s academic atmosphere, and I think those experiences will allow her to make decisions for the academic process with a knowledge of the many perspectives that will be impacted.”
Mallard is 1983 graduate of Milan High School, and she earned her B.A. in English from Bethel College, graduating Summa Cum Laude in 1998. In 1999 she earned a master’s degree in English at the University of Memphis and began teaching in the English Department at Bethel in the fall of 1999. She has been the recipient of Bethel’s Shelton Award for Teaching Excellence and Campus Leadership and has served as Faculty Secretary as well as on many committees, including a term as chair of the Faculty Communications Committee.
A frequent contributor at regional and national academic conferences and a performer in college and community drama productions, Mallard is also a successful artist whose painting and pottery have appeared in exhibits and art fairs throughout the area. She has two sons, Christopher Fuchs and Nathan Fuchs.
