Bethel's Hendrix Competition is Feb. 19-20 -- Deadline to Apply is Feb. 12

Bethel’s Hendrix Scholarship competition is scheduled to be held on the school’s McKenzie campus Friday and Saturday, Feb. 19 and 20. The deadline to apply for the competition is Friday, Feb. 12.
     The Hendrix Scholarship is Bethel’s most prestigious scholarship, and the annual winner is determined by a two-day competition where students are tested in academic ability. The winner of the competition earns full tuition, room and board. A runner-up earns full tuition. All others who compete will be considered for Bethel’s remaining institutional grants.
     To be eligible for the Hendrix Scholarship competition, students must be a high school senior with at least a 3.25 GPA and a 24/*1090 or above ACT/SAT score. The winner and runner up must maintain a 3.6 GPA to renew the scholarship each year. Note: The 1090 SAT score is a combination of critical reading and math only.
     To apply for the competition, students must first apply for admission to Bethel University. Second, students must apply for the scholarship competition. Third, students must submit official 7th semester transcripts. Finally, students must submit official ACT or SAT scores.       The Hendrix Scholarship was started by Willard Hendrix, a successful Nashville civic leader and businessman who had a great desire to bring qualified and dedicated faculty into contact with outstanding and deserving students. The establishment of the Hendrix Endowment Trust and the Hendrix Scholarship Competition are the fulfillment of one of Mr. Hendrix’s dreams.
      Hendrix was the grandson of Bethel University President W.W. Hendrix, the president who reopened Bethel University on a new McKenzie campus after the Civil War.
      The Hendrix Scholarship has been providing opportunities to students at Bethel since 1988.
