Howard will be Featured Speaker for Dishman Lecture

Pater Howard and wife, Rita, at their vineyard in Humboldt, Tenn.

Peter Howard, a British gas physicist, will be the featured speaker on Tuesday, April 6, as part of Bethel University’s 2010 Dishman Biology Lecture Series. Howard will share the environmentally responsible techniques he incorporated into his business, The Crown Winery and HRH Vineyards.
Howard’s winery, located in Humboldt, is a unique combination of necessity, science, and renewable energy. The wine production and storage area is built into a hill, which provides natural cooling through the fierce heat of the Tennessee summers. A large solar system generates power to this building and the connecting villa, which provides a majestic haven for weddings and private parties as well as the traditional tasting room and retail area.
Howard’s presentation will be in Room 131 of Bethel’s Dickey Fine Arts Building on the McKenzie campus at 7 p.m. A reception with light refreshments will be at 6:15. The event is free and open to the public.
