Bethel Head Coach Rusty Thompson said, "We are excited for Johnathan. No one deserves this anymore than he does with his work ethic and ability." Thompson added, "We are thrilled as this is the second year in a row one of our players has been drafted." Jonathan Keck was selected last year by the Kansas City Royals.
Deberry is excited about the opportunity. "First I would like to thank God. Without him, none of this would be possible." Deberry said, "I am not sure yet where the Giants will send me. I would imagine it will be rookie ball. They will be in touch with me in the next few days."
