Deadline for Hendrix Scholarship Competition is Feb. 12
The deadline to apply for Bethel University’s most prestigious scholarship competition, the Hendrix Scholarship, is Feb. 12, with the competition itself taking place Feb. 18-19 on the school’s McKenzie campus.
The Hendrix Scholarship competition is a two-day event where students complete academic testing and an interview process. The winner of the Hendrix Scholarship will earn full tuition, room and board. The runner-up will earn full tuition. All others who take part in the competition will be considered for Bethel’s remaining institutional grants.
The Hendrix Scholarship was established in 1988 by Mr. Willard R. Hendrix, a business and civic leader of Nashville who wanted to honor his grandfather, former Bethel President W.W. Hendrix. President Hendrix reopened Bethel on the current McKenzie campus after the Civil War. The Hendrix Endowment Trust underwrites the Hendrix scholarships. This was the fulfillment of Willard Hendrix who wanted to bring qualified and dedicated faculty into contact with outstanding and deserving students.
To be eligible to compete for the Hendrix Scholarship, a student must be a high school senior with at least a 3.25 GPA and a 24/1090 or above ACT/SAT score. To apply for the competition, students should first apply for admission to Bethel University. They should then apply online for the competition at www.bethelu.edu/admissions/hendrix_app. They should also submit an official 7th semester transcript and official ACT or SAT scores. Letters of recommendation may also be requested. Students accepted for the competition will be notified by letter.
The Hendrix Competition will begin on Friday, Feb. 18 with registration at 12:30 p.m. and will conclude at noon on Saturday, Feb. 19.
