Southern Gospel Quartet Invited to Perform at National Convention
Bethel University’s Renaissance Southern Gospel Quartet was invited to the 2011 National Quartet Convention to be on the Featured Artist Showcase, a concert that features up and coming groups that have made a mark on the industry. The National Quartet Convention is gospel music’s largest annual event. In 2009, the group bested more than 40 other groups to claim first place in the convention's annual talent competition. In 2010, they were invited to be on the Featured Artist Showcase. This year, they will be featured again. Also performing will be the Renaissance Trio, a recently formed group that will sing in the convention’s Regional Artist Showcase. As of press deadline, the quartet was scheduled to take the stage in the showcase and perform during a Monday afternoon concert. The trio was scheduled for a Tuesday performance.
Quartet members include Dustin Doyle of Chalybeate, Ky., Blaine Sumler of Lexington, Lance Talley of Sapulpa, Okla., and Josh Murrell of Paris. Renaissance Trio members include Zach Kennedy of Selmer, Krista Watson of Winona, Texas, Bethany Ellis of McKenzie, and Andrew Flowers of Ligonier, Penn., serving as pianist. Both groups are under the direction of Matthew Holt, Associate Creative Director of Renaissance.
