Bethel University is pleased to announce that the Maraca2 Percussion Duo will perform on Tuesday, Oct. 11 at 8 p.m. in the Oasis Room of Marrs-Stockton Hall (the old student center building) on Bethel’s McKenzie campus.

Exciting and dynamic young British percussion duo ‘Maraca2’ have been praised for their musicality, intensity and technique. Together they have performed at some of the UK’s top venues, including Symphony Hall, Royal Northern College of Music, and the National Indoor Arena where they opened the 29th International European Indoor Athletics Championships. They have received standing ovations at the International Percussion Festival in Patagonia, Argentina, and when premiering Jacob ter Veldhuis’ double percussion concerto ‘Goldrush’ in the UK- a performance the composer described as “one of the best ever!”

Their 2011 USA tour includes two-day residencies at more than 15 University percussion departments stretching from Missouri to Mississippi, as well as several evening recitals including the Oct. 11 performance at Bethel. This concert, which promises a spectacular array of adrenaline-fueled performances, artistic wizardry and a virtuosic percussive display, is free and open to the public.
