Portrait Presented/Recital Hall Named
On Friday, Oct. 7 at noon, Bethel’s Division of Music held Recital Hour and the family of L.J. Turner made a special presentation of a commissioned portrait of Turner to the school. A special surprise was the announcement that the Oasis in the Marrs-Stockton Building had officially been named the L.J. Turner Recital Hall in honor of Turner. Turner served as Choral and Band Director for Bethel during the late 1940s and early 1950s.
Here, Bethel President Bob Prosser, Turner’s son, Phil, and Dr. Beth Everett, Chair of the Division of Music, stand with the portrait and with a new sign that now designates the former Oasis in the Marrs-Stockton Building as the L.J. Turner Recital Hall.
