Homecoming Winners Announced


Ellen Argo accepts the Alumni Service Award from President Bob Prosser.

Ellen Argo (BS'90) was awarded Bethel’s Alumni Service Award during the school’s 2012 Homecoming luncheon on Saturday, Oct. 20. Argo, is a pediatric physical therapist with the Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt. She currently serves as assistant manager of the Acute/Preschool/Multidisciplinary Clinic Team. In her job, Argo works with children who have acute or chronic illnesses. She also works with children who have been injured in accidents or who are recovering from surgery. Argo is a 1986 graduate of McKenzie High School as well as a graduate of Middle Tennessee State University and University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences.

     Argo represents Bethel through her service to a number of organizations. She has worked with the American Heart Association, the Race for the Cure, and the American Red Cross. She has served as an ABLE Youth Sports Wheelchair Basketball Coach and has been on physical therapy mission trips. She also currently serves as a volunteer for the Clarksville/Montgomery County Humane Society Cat Foster Home program.

     Also recognized at the Alumni Luncheon was Ben Helson, a 2009 Bethel graduate who was awarded the Young Alumni Achievement Award. Helson is the guitarist for bluegrass sensations Rhonda Vincent and the Rage. Helson has played guitar for the Larry Stephenson Band, and he was a member of the highly esteemed Kentucky Thunder, led by 13-time Grammy award winner Ricky Skaggs.

     Helson is finishing up his fourth year of singing and playing the guitar with Rhonda Vincent and the Rage. He travels over 200 days a year. When he is home, he is heavily involved with his church, Grace Center. Helson and his wife, Danielle, are recent graduates of his church’s school of ministry. Helson is also Director of the Renaissance Bluegrass Band.

     Sports Hall of Fame Inductions were also conducted during the luncheon. Inductees included Sammy Fisher (1966), Matt Rooks (2002) and Steve Smith (2002).

     Chosen as Homecoming King and Queen were Sam Pyron of Brownsville and Kaneeshia Wade of Memphis. Other members of the Homecoming Court included: Colin King, Madison Dowdy, Brian “BJ” Armstrong Jr., Sarriah Johnson, Tommy Stokes, Molly Willis, Amanda Lynn McDowell, Daniel Willis, Joseph Dickinson and Paige Martin.
