University Singers to Present Carmina Burana March 25
The Bethel University Singers will present the scenic cantata Carmina Burana Cantiones Profanae on Tuesday, March 25 at 7 p.m. at the Bethel Performing Arts Center in McKenzie.
Composed by Carl Orff in 1935 and 1936, Carmina Burana is based on 24 poems from the medieval collection Carmina Burana. It is recognized as one of the seminal choral works of the 20th century.
The University Singers is a select choir whose members come from music majors as well as all disciplines across campus. As part of the Division of Music at Bethel, the University Singers provide a rich variety of experiences and opportunities. Originally the Balladeers, then the Bethel College Chorale, the University Singers have resurrected the tradition of performing major choral work each year. The Bethel. University Singers is under the direction of Dr. Brian E. Paulis.
This performance of Carmina Burana is free and open to the public. For more information, contact Dr. Keith Herris at firstname.lastname@example.org.
