Tennessee Supreme Court Holds Court at Bethel

Bethel SGA President Bo Morrison (on behalf of Bethel) accepts the appreciation of the Tennessee Supreme Court for being a host venue for the SCALES event. Presenting to Morrison is Justice Cornelia A. Clark.

The Tennessee Supreme Court held court at Bethel on April 10 providing area high school students and Bethel students a unique opportunity to attend a Supreme Court Session in their own community.

The event was part of the SCALES (Supreme Court Advancing Legal Education for Students) Project, a Tennessee Supreme Court initiative designed to educate students about the Judicial Branch of government.

Through the SCALES Project, students are provided with study materials and classroom instruction in advance so they understand the issues in the cases they will hear and how those cases reached the Supreme Court. Using materials provided by the court, teachers include judicial education in their curricula before and after students attend oral arguments.
