The Rev. Dr. Mitzi Minor, The Mary Magdalene Professor of New Testament at Memphis Theological Seminary (MTS), will be the speaker for Bethel University’s Fall 2014 Opening Convocation on Tuesday, Aug. 26. Opening Convocation is the official beginning of the new school year for traditional students at Bethel University. Fall semester classes for traditional students actually began Monday, Aug. 18.

Minor is an ordained Cumberland Presbyterian minister. She holds a Ph.D. and a Master of Divinity from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, and a Bachelor’s Degree from Auburn University.

Minor teaches students at MTS how they might read and interpret the new testament with integrity and how they can explore the content of various New Testament books. Part of her role at MTS is to also encourage students to allow their lives and the New Testament teachings to intersect.

Additionally, Minor teaches Bible studies at a variety of churches throughout the Mid-South.

Opening Convocation will be held at 11 a.m. in the Rosemary and Harry Crisp II Arena. For more information about Opening Convocation, contact Lisa Gilliam at 731-352-6702 or at gilliaml@bethelu.edu
