Bachelor of Science Degree in Child Learning and Development

​A major in child learning and development (CLD) leads to initial licensure and prepares teachers to work with elementary children (grades K–5). This major involves subject matter knowledge in the elementary curriculum, a proficient level of pedagogical knowledge, theory, and practice of teaching.

Bachelor of Science Degree in Exceptional Learning and Development (K-8 and 6-12)

​A major in Exceptional Learning and Development (ELD) leads to initial licensure and prepares teachers to work in special education classrooms, grades K-8, or 6-12. This major involves subject matter knowledge in children and youth with disabilities, a proficient level of pedagogical knowledge, theory, and practice of teaching.

Minor in Secondary Education

A minor in secondary education leads to initial licensure and prepares teachers to work with grades 6-12 in specific subject areas. The secondary education minor is combined with a major in one of the following areas:

  • Mathematics
  • Biology

  • Physical Education
