Criminal Justice/Emergency Service Management Recruiter

In coordination with the Chief Enrollment Officer-Criminal Justice, the Criminal Justice/Emergency Service Management Recruiter (CJ/ESM Recruiter) is responsible for establishing and administering recruiting programs for targeting, recruiting, and retention of students in graduate and/or undergraduate programs; for developing recruitment programs and recruitment marketing materials; and for visiting and making presentations to schools and other groups and/or individuals to carry out the following responsibilities:

  • Develops a detailed understanding of the College of Professional Studies’ mission, degrees, programs, needs, goals and communicates this information to the prospective students;
  • Develops a detailed understanding of the typical, nontraditional student, who is likely a busy adult with a career and family, but who is interested in furthering their education to meet personal goals or dreams;
  • Selects, interviews, and differentiates among potential Criminal Justice/ESM candidates to meet monthly and annual goal;
  • Provides career and academic counseling, planning and advising to potential Criminal Justice and ESM students; assist Criminal Justice and ESM students with completion of applications and coordinates applications for financial assistance;
  • Develops an understanding of recruiting materials needs to reach a specific target vertical markets in Recruiter's territory and participates in the development of student recruitment and retention plans, strategies, and written materials;
  • Create a vertical marketing strategy with the territory; develop new centers of influence within the vertical markets and nurtures long-term relationships to create a pipeline of future potential candidates. Composes a strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, threats (SWOT) analysis of his/her territorial competitors, opportunities, and best practices to effectively recruit within the assigned territory or for the assigned program; communicates same to the Director for incorporation into the overall marketing strategy;
  • Make field visits to schools, colleges, places of employment, career fairs, etc., to meet with and speak to prospective Criminal Justice and ESM students, whether groups or individuals; meets with school counselors, human resource offices, etc., to promote outreach activities; coordinates community workshops and retreats; arranges visits with prospective students;
  • Serves as a liaison to develop partnerships between the University and schools, colleges, Cumberland Presbyterian Churches, and places of employment throughout the state and surrounding states;
  • Assists in organizing programs and events designed to promote community awareness of opportunities, services, and the CPS mission;
  • Maintains tracking, reporting, and open lines of communication recruiting team to ensure CPS meets its goals. Prepares weekly reports for the Chief Enrollment Officer that analyzes recruiting activity, active CPS candidates, and other relevant information. Creates and maintains a database of prospective and current students and/or potential degree candidates;
  • Creates and distributes resource materials for student recruitment and retention programs; develops mentor-ship programs; analyzes trends in recruitment and retention programs; and develops strategies for program evaluation;
  • Responds to inquiries from CPS students, contacts, and interviews;
  • Participates in the development of operating goals and objectives for the CPS; recommends, implements, and administers methods and procedures to enhance operations;
  • Manages personal self-development to continue to grow and succeed and
  • Performs other related accountabilities/responsibilities as required or directed

Minimum Qualifications: Associate's degree in education, business, or related field of study or equivalent experience; 1 - 3 years' experience in customer service, sales, and/or similar field.
