Director of Marketing

The Director of Marketing oversees the marketing, communications, graphic design, and photography/videography for the University for the purpose of promoting a positive image of the University to internal and external audiences. This includes oversight of department staff, compliance with branding guidelines, management of the marketing budget, and serving as a liaison with the University’s external marketing partners and with internal constituencies.

Principal Accountabilities/Responsibilities:

  1. Supports the marketing department staff
  2. Develops and implements marketing strategies and tactics
  3. Maintains responsibility for department operations, including the recruitment, management, development, and retention of the marketing staff and oversight of the department budget
  4. Sets and manages department budgets and goals, including media mix expenditures and appropriate marketing channels
  5. Collaborates with leadership and University colleagues to select and manage external vendors in support of marketing and communications activities
  6. Oversees University website and social media accounts
  7. Compiles full-cycle marketing and communications analytics necessary to optimize results
  8. Works with internal constituencies to support marketing needs for programs, events, colleges, and the University as a whole
  9. Provides oversight and prioritization of departmental workflow for staff
  10. Seeks new ways to promote Bethel University and stays abreast of trends in higher education and marketing

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in a related field or with some coursework in marketing; knowledge of traditional and nontraditional university operations; knowledge of fundraising, higher education marketing, and communication best practices; exemplary communication skills; ability to build cross-divisional relationships; fluency in Microsoft Office and Google suite. Must have 3-5 years of relevant experience, or a combination of education and relevant experience; management experience; experience using data to make decisions; budget management.
