Medical Director

Under the general direction of the Program Director the Medical Director ensures that both the didactic and clinical instruction meets current practice standards.

Principal Accountabilities/Responsibilities:

  • Be an advocate for the program in the medical and academic communities.
  • Support the program director.
  • Participate in the development of the mission statement for the program.
  • Participate in the selection of applicants for admission to the program.
  • Provide student instruction.
  • Evaluate student performance.
  • Counsel and advise students regarding academic matters.
  • Assure the availability of remedial instruction.
  • Participate in the design, implementation, and evaluation of the curriculum.
  • Participate in the development of the program competencies.
  • Perform clinical site visits.
  • Assist with administration and evaluation of the program.

Minimum Qualifications:

Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine with a minimum of 3 years’ clinical experience. Must have an active, unrestricted Tennessee medical license and be certified by an ABMS or AOA approved specialty board.
