Kasinina's Hope is an organization formed through Bethel University’s College of Health Sciences and the Physician Assistant program. It was created to help a young girl from the village of Castle Bruce, Dominica, West Indies, who suffered a traumatic BKA when she was 4 years old.
Kasiann is now 12 years old. Through the years she has learned to adapt to her amputation by utilizing an old crutch or tree branch to assist in her ambulation. At times, she has to drag herself on the ground to get from place to place.
Ms. Ferdinand-Jacob had the opportunity to meet this young lady when she was in Dominica in 2010. Since that time Bethel University College of Health Sciences has made it a mission to help improve this youngster’s life, and others like her, hence the birth of Kasinina's Hope.
