Bethel hosts free outdoor movie screening Sept. 10

The topic is both touching and timely

McKenzie, TN – Bethel University's Prevention Services, along with the Tennessee Suicide Prevention Network (TSPN), will host a free outdoor movie screening of the film "Suicide: The Ripple Effect" at 7 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 10 on the school’s quad. Everyone is welcome, and attendees are encouraged to bring a blanket.

The topic is timely, says Rachael Brooks, Title IX and Prevention Services Director at Bethel.

“Suicides have increased across Tennessee for the last three years, and suicide is the second leading cause of death among 10- to 24-year-olds nationwide,” she says. “The goals of this screening are to decrease the stigma associated with talking about suicide, and to encourage and equip others to have the resources they need to prevent suicide.”

There will be an open discussion afterwards, and free popcorn while supplies last. To find out more, call or email Rachael Brooks at (731) 352-4246 or email
