MCKENZIE, Tenn. - Bethel University Director of Athletics Dale Kelley announced Monday Derrick Hubble has been named head coach of the Bethel University men's and women's tennis programs.  Hubble replaces Barrett Phelps who recently resigned to pursue other interests.

Hubble just completed his third season as a graduate assistant for the Bethel women's basketball program.

He graduated from Bethel with a Bachelor's of Science degree in Physical Education and Health. He recently obtained a Masters of Education at the school.

Hubble is a native of McKenzie, Tennessee and is a 2007 graduate of McKenzie High School. After his prep career he worked in the Sports Information department at Bethel for four years. He also worked on the Bethel radio network.

Kelley commented, "We are excited to have Derrick lead our tennis squads. He has been an important part of our women's basketball coaching staff and has served Coach Nelson aptly in many areas. We feel those experiences will serve him well as he becomes a head coach." He added, "Derrick is a very popular figure on our campus and around the area and we know he will do a great job."

Hubble said, "It is truly an honor to be named the head tennis coach at a place I love. I'm super excited about the challenge and opportunity. I would like to thank the administration for believing in me and I look forward to working with our student-athletes."
