Bethel University Graduate Selected to Serve as Commissioner of Tennessee Department of Health


Bethel University MBA graduate Dr. Lisa Piercey
 has been selected by Governor-Elect Bill Lee to serve as Commissioner for the Tennessee Department of Health.

A board-certified child abuse pediatrician, Piercey is a native of Trenton, TN. In emailed remarks, West TN Healthcare President/CEO James Ross lauded Piercey’s appointment. “We are delighted to hear of Dr. Piercey’s appointment as the Commissioner of the Tennessee Department of Health. Dr. Piercey’s medical skills and knowledge of healthcare operations, particularly in the areas of rural health and population health, make her an ideal candidate to serve in this role,” Ross said.

Additionally, the Tennessee Medical Association had high praise for Piercey, saying, in part, “Dr. Piercey’s deep Tennessee roots, clinical and business acumen make her uniquely qualified to lead the governor-elect’s effort to make Tennessee a healthier place to live, work and play.”
