Bethel University’s Summer 2016 Commencement will be held this Saturday, August 6. There will be one service for both undergraduate and graduate degree candidates. The ceremony will take place at 10 a.m., in the Rosemary and Harry Crisp II Arena which is located in the Vera Low Center for Student Enrichment at 101 Wildcat Lane on the school’s McKenzie campus.
Nancy Bean, Vice President for Bethel’s College of Arts and Sciences, will be the Commencement Speaker.
Bean is a 1969 graduate of Bethel, and she holds a master’s degree in Community Service Counseling from the University of Central Arkansas. Early in her career, Bean worked as a music teacher with the Memphis City Schools and the Bowling Green, Ky., City Schools. She also served as an adjunct instructor in psychology and as the Coordinator of the Special Learning Center at the University of the Ozarks. Bean has also served as an adjunct instructor at Somerset Community College. Furthermore, she has more than 20 years in behavioral health services serving in various roles at Adanta Behavioral Health Services and serving the Commonwealth of Kentucky as a Service Region Administrator and as State Assistant Director of Service Regions for the Cabinet for Families and Children. Bean has previously served on the Bethel University Board of Trustees and on various committees including the Regional Task Force for Mental Health/Drug Treatment Services.
Guest seating for commencement will begin one hour prior to the ceremony and line up of graduates will begin at that time as well.
