MCKENZIE, Tenn. – The Bethel University Sports Information Office updated the starting times for the 2018 Wildcat Football schedule Monday. The Homecoming game against Cincinnati Christian orginally scheduled for 5 p.m. has been changed to 3 p.m.
The Wildcats will play five home games and five road game this fall.
The Cats open the season at home on Thursday, August 23rd at 6 p.m. against Mid-South power Reinhardt who made it to the NAIA title game last year and finished 13-1 on the season. Their only loss was to national champion St. Francis. Reinhardt finished # 2 in the post season coaches' poll.
After a bye week the Cats travel to the Eastern Mountains of Kentucky to play the always tough Bears of the University of Pikeville. The Thursday night game on September 6th is slated to begin at 6 p.m.
On September 15th Bethel will host MSC newcomer Keiser University at 1:30 p.m.
Three straight road games will begin on September 22nd with a visit to Florida to face a talented Southeastern program which finished 10th in the nation last year. Kick-off from the Sunshine State is 12:30 p.m.
The always tough and MSC mainstay Georgetown will host the Cats on September 29th. The Tigers were No. 7 in the country last season. Action begins at 12:30 p.m.
Back in the Commonwealth the following week the Wildcats travel to Campbellsville University to battle the Tigers who finished No. 20 in the nation. Kick-off is slated for 6 p.m.
The Wildcats return home on October 13th to host Kentucky Christian at 1:30 p.m. They remain at home the following week to host Cincinnati Christian at 3 p.m. It will be Homecoming for the Cats and their fans. The Cats have never lost to CCU.
The Lindsey Wilson Blue Raiders will host the Cats at 1:30 p.m. on October 27th. The Raiders and Wildcats have had some great battles through the years. LWC finished No. 5 in the nation last year.
After a late season bye week the Wildcats close out the regular season on November 10th on Senior Day against Cumberland University. The Wildcats have met CU more than any other opponent in program history. Senior Day festivities begin at 1 p.m. with kick-off at 1:30 p.m.
The Wildcats are in the Bluegrass Division with Georgetown, Campbellsville, Kentucky Christian, Cincy Christian, Lindsey Wilson and Cumberland games being divisional affairs.
Bethel finished 3-7 on the season last year.
