What You’ll Learn

The Interdisciplinary Elementary Education program at Bethel University prepares students to become effective, licensed educators for grades K–5. Rooted in a liberal arts foundation and guided by current educational theory and practice, the program integrates content knowledge across disciplines with focused pedagogical training. Through engaging coursework, hands-on field experiences, and a required minor in Professional Education, students develop the knowledge, skills, and dispositions necessary to create inclusive and dynamic learning environments.

As a student in the Interdisciplinary Elementary Education program, you will:

  • Develop a strong foundation in core elementary content areas, including reading, math, science, and social studies, with an emphasis on integrating this knowledge into effective classroom instruction.

  • Gain a comprehensive understanding of child development and educational psychology to better support diverse learners.

  • Build practical skills in classroom management, curriculum planning, and assessment design aligned with state and national standards.
