What We Do

The Office of Accessibility Services (OAS) is designed to coordinate and administer services and accommodations for students with documented accessibilities. Our goal is to provide individuals with documented accessibilities fair access to programs, services, and activities here at Bethel University. The Office of Accessibility Services will review disability documentation, meet with students to determine appropriate reasonable accommodations and work with other areas on campus to implement services according to Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and The Americans Disabilities Act of 1990. These laws are designed to remove barriers to "equal participation." Specifically, they prohibit discrimination on the basis of a handicap and mandate "reasonable accommodations" for students with learning accessibilities, ADHD, traumatic brain injury, seizure disorders, and other cognitive and physical impairments.

A person is considered eligible for accessibility accommodations if they have a disability, have a record of a disability, or are regarded as having a disability.

Office of Accessbility Services Policy and Procedure

Services

All services and accommodations provided by the OAS are based upon each student's individual needs. Bethel University recognizes that accessibilities come in all shapes and sizes, and can include physical, mental, social, and learning accessibilities. Reasonable accommodations will be provided to those who qualify.
