Applying for Financial Aid

Paying for college can feel overwhelming—but you’re not alone. At Bethel, we’re committed to making your education affordable. In fact, about 98% of our students receive financial assistance through scholarships, grants, and federal student aid. It all starts with one important step: submitting your FAFSA. From there, we’ll work with you to build a personalized financial aid package that helps make Bethel a reality.

Federal Work Study & Grants

Federal Pell Grant

The Federal Pell Grant provides a foundation for financial assistance. Eligibility is determined through the FAFSA need analysis process. Award amounts are determined by the SAI calculated on the FAFSA and number of credit hours taken each semester. Pell Grants are limited to twelve semesters or its equivalent.

Federal Supplemental Education Opportunity Grant (SEOG)

The Federal SEOG Grant is based on need and is awarded to students who demonstrate the greatest financial need. Students who receive SEOG must also be Federal Pell Grant recipients.

Tennessee Student Assistance Award Grant

A TSAA Grant is awarded by the Tennessee Student Assistance Corporation on a first-come, first-served basis to eligible undergraduate students who are Tennessee residents and demonstrate financial need.

Loans

Many students use loans to help cover college costs beyond what scholarships and grants provide. If you’re borrowing as an adult degree student, you’ll likely use the Federal Direct Loan Program, which offers low-interest subsidized and unsubsidized loans through the U.S. Department of Education. Parents of dependent students can also apply for a Federal Direct PLUS Loan to help with remaining expenses.
