Applying for Scholarships & Financial Aid

Paying for college can feel overwhelming—but you’re not alone. At Bethel, we’re committed to making your education affordable. In fact, about 98% of our students receive financial assistance through scholarships, grants, and federal student aid. It all starts with one important step: submitting your FAFSA by February 1. From there, we’ll work with you to build a personalized financial aid package that helps make Bethel a reality.

Available Bethel Scholarships

Academic Merit Scholarships

All transfer students admitted to in-person programs are considered for Academic Merit Scholarships. These scholarships range from $4,000 to $10,000 and your application for admission serves as the application for these awards.

Students admitted to programs in the College of Professional Studies are not eligible for these awards.

Admitted students with academic credentials that meet or exceed a 3.0 cumulative GPA are considered competitive to receive these awards. Academic Merit Scholarships can be stacked with scholarship offers from either Athletics or the Renaissance program. Bethel Scholarships are only awarded for Fall and Spring semesters for up to ten semesters.

Athletic Scholarship

Athletic scholarships are available for all sports programs offered at Bethel University. Bethel’s Athletics program will review the student’s athletic background and determine eligibility for a potential scholarship offer based on talent and team needs. A contract must be renewed each year. Renewal is at the discretion of the coach and athletic director. This scholarship only combines with the Cumberland Presbyterian Grant, Contiguous County Grant, and Academic Merit Scholarships.

Renaissance Scholarship

Renaissance Participation Scholarships vary in amounts, and auditions are required. Scholarships are available for vocal, theatre, and instrumental talent as well as students involved in audio/visual production. This scholarship only combines with the Cumberland Presbyterian Grant, Contiguous County Grant, and Academic Merit Scholarships.

Federal Work Study & Grants

Loans

Many students use loans to help cover college costs beyond what scholarships and grants provide. If you’re borrowing as a transfer student, you’ll likely use the Federal Direct Loan Program, which offers low-interest subsidized and unsubsidized loans through the U.S. Department of Education. Parents of dependent students can also apply for a Federal Direct PLUS Loan to help with remaining expenses.
