Payment Plans
Two Payment Plan Options
Bethel University offers interest-free monthly payment plans to help students and families manage the cost of attendance. Payment plans spread your semester balance into affordable monthly installments making it easier to budget without the burden of a single lump-sum payment. Bethel offers two options for payment plans.
Online Payment Plan Through NelNet Campus Commerce
Interest-free. Payment plans are not loans. No interest is charged, no credit check is required.
Easy online setup. Setting up your payment plan can be done online and does not require visiting Student Financial Services.
Low enrollment fee. A one-time enrollment fee is charged per semester if a student chooses an online payment plan. The enrollment fee is non-refundable.
Automatic payments. Payments are automatically deducted on the 30th of each month via debit/credit card or through an automatic bank payment (ACH).
Flexible options. Choose the plan that fits your timeline. The earlier you enroll, the more months you have to spread payments — and no down payment is required if you start in the first available month.
In-Person Payment Plan Through Student Financial Services
Interest-free. Payment plans are not loans. No interest is charged, no credit check is required.
No enrollment fee. No enrollment fee is required.
Requires in-person setup. Payment plans must be set up in-person at the Student Financial Services office. Students are required to sign a promissory note and pay their down payment at signing.
Flexible payments. Payments can be made in-person via debit/credit card, check or money order in-person, over the phone, via mail or online through the student's ePortal. Payments are not automatic and are due on the 30th of each month.
Flexible options. Choose the plan that fits your timeline. The earlier you enroll, the more months you have to spread payments — and no down payment is required if you start in the first available month.

Important Payment Plan Policies
Your budget is your responsibility. Compare your payment plan budget to your actual student account charges regularly. If your charges change (due to adding or dropping courses, housing adjustments, etc.), update your plan accordingly. Failure to budget correctly may result in an unpaid balance.
Plan adjustments after drop/add. After the drop/add period, Bethel may automatically adjust your payment plan to match your student account balance.
No semester rollovers. A previous semester's balance cannot be carried into a future semester's payment plan. Each semester must be paid in full before the next term.
If you miss a payment, a $30 late fee is assessed for payments not received by the due date. Multiple missed or returned payments could affect your eligibility for future payment plans and ability to participate in extracurricular activities.
Returned payments. A returned payment may result in termination of your payment plan. You would need to set up a new plan, if still available. The enrollment fee is non-refundable.
Bethel reserves the right to discontinue a payment plan based on multiple missed, returned, or revoked payments.
Payment plan availability for summer sessions may vary. Contact Student Financial Services for details on summer payment options.
International Students
New international students are required to pay their first semester in full by their indicated payment deadline. If you would like to make payments toward your first-semester balance in advance of the payment deadline, Student Financial Services can work with you to arrange that. Contact our office to set up a payment schedule.
Returning international students (after completing their first semester) are eligible to enroll in a payment plan for subsequent semesters, just like all other students.
