Bethel University's Office of Accessibility Services (OAS) supports students with disabilities by providing reasonable accommodations in compliance with the ADA and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act. • Eligibility

  Eligibility for accommodations must be established through the Office of Accessibility Services before accommodations can be approved. Admission to Bethel University does not automatically guarantee accommodations. Students are encouraged to visit the Request Accommodations page to review the process and required documentation.

• Scope of Services

  We provide reasonable accommodations to students with:

  • Anxiety Disorder/ Panic Attack/ Test Anxiety

  • Dyscalculia/ Math Disability
  • Dysgraphia/ Writing Disability
  • Dyslexia/ Reading Disability
  • Epilepsy/ Seizure Disorders
  • Other Conditions

  Classroom Supports:

  • Preferential Seating
  • Permission to have food/ drink (e.g., for diabetes)
  • Verbal instructions & written directions
  • Instructor - provided notes

  Testing Supports:

  • Use of a low-distraction testing room (Library Tutoring Center)
  • Extended time on tests/ assignments and in-class writing (1.5x time)
  • Use of a calculator (for math/dyscalculia)

  Assistive Tools:

  • Use of recording devices
  • Scribe pen that records & writes what it hears. (We do not provide these.)

• Confidentiality

  The Office of Accessibility Services at Bethel University operates in accordance with FERPA regulations to protect student privacy while coordinating accommodations. All disability-related documentation is kept confidential, and information is only released to third parties with the student’s written consent through the appropriate Consent to Release Information forms.
