Adult Degree and Graduate Admissions Counselor
Purpose of Position and Scope of Responsibility:
The Adult Degree and Graduate Admissions Counselor manage adult degree and graduate prospective students through the enrollment lifecycle—from inquiry to class registration—driving enrollment for Bethel’s online programs through proactive outreach, relationship-building, and strategic follow-up.
This role serves as a primary point of contact for first-time, transfer, and returning adult degree and graduate students through Bethel’s online programs within a recruitment territory, effectively communicating the value of Bethel University and supporting recruitment strategies for non-traditional and graduate populations in collaboration with admissions leadership.
This position will require approved travel within an assigned region, as well as evening and weekend hours during peak recruitment periods.
Principal Accountabilities/Responsibilities:
Recruitment & Outreach
- Manage prospective students through the entire admissions lifecycle (inquiry to application review through enrollment). Execute strategic follow-up and outreach to convert inquiries into enrollment students.
Represent the University at virtual events, graduate fairs and other recruitment events, information sessions, conferences and community outreach initiatives within a recruitment territory.
Maintain consistent, personalized communication via phone, text, email, chat, and virtual meetings
Conduct individual and group presentations for prospective adult degree and graduate students virtually.
Stay informed of competitor activities to identify opportunities and recommend improvements, ensuring Bethel remains competitive and effectively communicates its strengths
Admissions Guidance and Processing
- Provide prospective students with accurate, personalized information about Bethel’s academic offerings, campus life, and admissions process.
Review applications, transcripts, test scores, and other supporting documents to make admissions recommendations.
Counsel students on program fit, admissions requirements, financial aid basics, and transfer credit as well as reviewing and evaluation of transcripts to support the admission decision-making process.
Data and Reporting
- Utilize data and Customer Relationship Management tools (e.g., Element451) and virtual communication tools (e.g., Zoom, Microsoft Teams) to manage territory and outreach strategies effectively
Track recruitment activities, including inquiries and applications, to support enrollment goals with weekly/monthly and year-over-year tracking.
- Stay updated on institutional policies related to transfer credit, articulation agreements, and admissions standards.
Collaboration and Engagement
- Partner and cross-train with other members of the Admissions team to create a cohesive experience for all first-year, transfer, international, adult degree and graduate prospective students.
Collaborate with campus offices, including Student Financial Services, Registrar, and Academics to provide comprehensive information to applicants.
Participate in staff meetings, professional development opportunities, and training sessions to support team growth and institutional goals. Remote employees are expected to travel to campus quarterly for staff meetings and training sessions.
Performance Expectations
- Maintain high-volume outreach, including daily call activity (50–75 calls/day)
Meet established admission and institutional enrollment goals through consistent recruitment, conversion, and student engagement efforts.
Demonstrate strong responsiveness with rapid follow-up to new inquiries (within 5–10 minutes). Effectively manage and track prospects through all stages of the enrollment funnel. Participate in evening/weekend recruitment activities as needed.
Ensure accurate and timely documentation of student records and interactions in the University’s CRM system.
Perform related accountabilities/responsibilities as required or directed.

Physical Requirements:
Work requires the physical demands of standing, bending, lifting, stooping or performing other work requiring light physical exertion (up to 30 pounds) on an occasional basis (up to 15% of time) and frequent walking; or moderate physical exertion (up to 50 pounds) on an intermittent basis (not a routine part of the job).
Environmental Conditions:
Work is performed under basically normal working conditions as in a standard office environment with standard travel for recruitment activities.
