Principal Faculty (Physician Assistant Program)

Purpose of Position and Scope of Responsibility:  Teach as assigned by the Academic Director, and remediation of PA students.

Under the general direction of Program Director

Under the direct supervision of  Academic Director

Principal Accountabilities/Responsibilities:

  1. Provide student instruction.
  2. Participate in student performance evaluation in didactic year, clinical year and return to campus.
  3. Provide remedial instruction per program policy.
  4. Participate in assigned committee meetings.
  5. Work in accordance with the program’s curriculum statement and policies.
  6. Participate in the development of the mission statement for the program.
  7. Participate in the selection of applicants for admission to the program.
  8. Counsel and advise students regarding academic matters.
  9. Assist with administration and evaluation of the program.
  10. Ensure/maintain the confidentiality of student information.
  11. Participate in self-study and continuous evaluation of the program.
  12. All other duties as assigned.

Licensure, Registration, Certification

The candidate must be a graduate of an accredited PA Program and possess a graduate degree in Physician Assistant Studies or comparable degree.   

 

Minimum of 3 years of clinical experience. The ability to work collaboratively is essential. Applicants must demonstrate strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills. Candidates must also: exhibit abilities in planning and organization; possess a solid work ethic and a positive attitude; be resourceful and computer literate. Some travel is required. 

 

The candidate must be NCCPA certified with appropriate clinical practice experience, and hold a current PA license in Tennessee or be eligible for licensure.

The ideal candidate has experience educating PA students either as a clinical preceptor or as a faculty member. 

 

Minimum of 3 years of clinical experience. 

 

The ideal candidate must be NCCPA certified with appropriate clinical practice experience, and hold a current PA license in Tennessee or be eligible for licensure.

Physical Requirements:

Work requires light physical exertion (up to 30 pounds) on a frequent basis (up to 50% of time) or continuous walking; or moderate physical exertion (up to 50 pounds) on an occasional basis up to 15% of time); or heavy physical exertion (over 50 pounds) on an intermittent basis (not a routine part of the job).

Environmental Conditions:

Work is performed under basically normal working conditions as in a standard office and classroom environment.
