Assistant/Associate Professor of Education- Director of Student Teaching

Principal Accountabilities/Responsibilities:

  1. All faculty responsibilities

  2. Upon receipt of the Teacher Education Program (TEP) application, monitor the process until the student is ready for the TEP interview. Requirements in addition to the application include test scores, recommendations, 2.75 GPA, philosophy paper, and dispositions which must all be verified.

  3. Coordinate interviews (each semester) with advisors and of the DOE faculty.

  4. Participate in the TEP interviews.
  5. Document the outcome of the interview for the students’ TEP and advisors’ files, including a letter of the decision. Copies are also made for the student and the TEP file.
  6. Update the TEP spread sheet.

  7. Communicate TEP requirements with students and assist in registering for appropriate tests.
  8. Verify background checks for every student enrolled in FE I and II and all other clinical experiences.
  9. Contact LEAs for student teaching placement.

  10. Revise and update forms.

  11. Share requirements and expectations with students, supervising instructors, and cooperating systems.

  1. Collect evaluations and report the data on the spread sheets.

  2. Visit student teachers at assigned schools during the student teacher semester.
  3. Maintain a positive line of communication with all representatives of LEA’s.
  4. Performs related accountabilities/responsibilities as required or directed.

Minimum Qualifications

Knowledge/Education 

Experience

 

Licensure, Registration, Certification

  • Candidates must hold an earned master’s degree from an accredited institution. Doctoral degree is preferred. Years of teaching experience will be considered.

  • Candidates must have a minimum of three years teaching experience and have an LOE score of a4 or 5 in the K-12 setting.

  • Candidates must hold a valid TN teaching license; administrative endorsement preferred.

 

 

Desired Qualifications

Knowledge/Education Experience

 

Licensure, Registration, Certification

  • Knowledge of Tennessee's licensure procedures is desired.

  • Candidates with endorsements in Administration, Reading/Literacy, Special Education, Elementary, and/or Secondary are desired.

  • Experience in supervising teachers and/or student teachers is desired.

 

Physical Requirements:

Work requires little or no physical effort. Lifting or performing other work requiring light physical exertion (up to 30 pounds) is intermittent (not a routine part of the job) and secondary to the job.

Environmental Conditions:

Work is performed under basically normal working conditions as in a standard office or classroom environment.
